Recruitment Sub-Committee

The Recruitment Sub-Committee is charged by the Nursing Professional Advisory Committee (N-PAC) to review and recommend policy relative to the recruitment, accession, and retention of nurses in the U.S. Public Health Service and to advise the N-PAC Chair and the Chief Nurse Officer. Additionally, the Sub-Committee will be responsible for managing the Associate Recruiter Program (ARP) for the nurse category and facilitate communication with the nurse applicants.

Recruitment Sub-Committee Goals

• Provide active recruitment/outreach presence through various venues as professional category volunteers committed to the growth and awareness of the Commissioned Corps.
• Establish recommendations for retention specific activities for FY09.
• Assist DCCA with applications of qualified (PHS-50-boarded) applicants through the Nurse Applicant Workgroup (NAW) of this committee.
• Establish the “Every Nurse is a Recruiter” (ENIAC) campaign targeting graduate and undergraduate programs

Recruitment Sub-Committee Objectives

• Assist DCCA/DCCR in achieving active duty strength of 1500 nurses for FY09 through subcommittee activities.
• Establish measurable outcomes/metrics for NAW and ENIAC in FY09
• Support DCCR in the reorganization of current ARP and establish a selection process for new Associate Recruiter (AR) applications.
• Develop nurse specific recruitment materials (1-2) and establish outreach activities (1-2) to support nurse recruitment/outreach for FY09
• Develop a network/database of nurse related career fairs for DCCR and PAC outreach.
• Increase participation in Recruitment Sub-Committee by 10% for FY09
• Develop and distribute a recruitment letter to be utilized in support of the “Every Nurse is a Recruiter” campaign.
